39th Brigade Group HQ

Seaforth Jericho Armoury

Designed to respond to domestic disasters, the Seaforth Armoury serves as the regional post-disaster facility. The building achieved LEED Silver (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) incorporating the principles of sustainable and eco-friendly design. The rooftop features an extensive vegetated roof system with a high water-retention-to-weight ratio. The soilless system has no “loose” growing medium allowing for a clean, fast and simple installation. Reducing stormwater runoff was among the main reasons the green was chosen.

Lightweight & Soilless

“Because it will become a post-disaster relief centre in the event of a major disaster, Vancouver’s 39th Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters] is designed to ensure it’s the last building standing.”
– Rick Gudz, DCC’s Manager, CFB Esquimalt
