Michael Garron Hospital

Increases Climate Resilience

Sustainability was the key component in B+H Architects’ design of the Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto’s east end to help produce cleaner air and reduce stormwater runoff. The rooftop features 1936 square metres of the cool and resilient TerraExt pre-vegetated green roof system that enables the hospital to use less energy during the summer.

Enhanced Performance

Michael Garron’s TerraExt lightweight, pre-vegetated green roof was customized with 100 mm of engineered growing medium – to beef up thermal performance without excessive load. This system improves thermal performance, saves energy for space conditioning and increases water retention & filtration.
