Humber College North Campus Parking Garage

Specialized Stormwater Management

The StormCap™ green roof on Humber College’s state-of-the-art parking garage is a specialized stormwater management system that is lightweight with superb water retention capacity. A perfect balance between water retention, weight & climate resilience. Designed by MHBC Planning Urban Design & Landscape Architecture, it helps achieve several of Humber’s sustainability goals.    Humber’s Sustainability Trail helps raise awareness about low impact development (LID) that contributes to a healthy and sustainable environment.

Specialized Stormwater Management

The StormCap system is has a high water retention capacity without incurring excessive loads. It is an ideal source control BMP stand alone or as part of a treatment train.

Green Roofs reduce and filter storm water runoff and absorb airborne pollutants and carbon dioxide.  The green roof also reduces energy needs and offsets Urban Heat Island Effect.  It’s not only the environment that benefits from green roofs, studies show that exposure to green infrastructure and design can boost the productivity, well-being and overall health of people and communities.”
