Robert C. Austin Operations Centre

Low Impact Development

Designed by RDHA Architects, this highly economical building achieves good design on a budget while meeting the town’s sustainable building policy. The Flora Garden intensive green roof was installed in 2015. It not only offers an amenity space where staff and visitors meet, the lush and varied vegetated roof also provides an ecological habitat, helps with stormwater management and maximizes energy efficiency.

Sustainable Building

Sustainability was a main factor in the design and execution of this project. While Halton Township did not submit for LEED certification, LEED principals were carried forward during the design and construction of this project to minimize the building’s environmental footprint. Intensive green roofs offer nearly unlimited plant and design varieties and help replicate displaced ecosystems.
