Next Level Stormwater Management is very proud and excited to announce that Dr. Karen Liu joins the team on October 1, 2020.

World-Class Experience

Karen has more than 20 years of experience in green roofs spanning both private and public sector. She was a product manager with Bonar Xeroflor GmbH / Low & Bonar PLC providing technical and marketing support to clients in North America, Europe and Asia.  Before joining the private sector, Karen was a lead researcher of the green roof programs at the National Research Council in Ottawa and the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Vancouver for over 10 years.  Her work examined the engineering performance of green roofs such as energy saving and stormwater management, and their climate sensitivity.

Research and Development

Over the years, Karen collaborated with universities and research institutes to develop new green roof products and standards. Her work examined the engineering performance of green roofs such as energy saving and stormwater management, and their climate sensitivity.

Key Participant in Development of CSA A123.24

Karen has been a member of the CSA A123 Technical Committee on Roofing Materials and was actively involved in the development of CSA A123.24 standard test method for wind resistance of modular vegetated roof assembly and applied this knowledge to improve the wind performance of green roof systems.

Karen received her BASc , MASc and PhD from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, University of Toronto.
